Crocheting and Learning to Survive a Snow Day

Due to the recent radical change in what is normally a balmy January here in Florida, I actually experienced my first snow day! In Florida! FLORIDA!!!! We didn't even get snow... it hailed for most of the morning, and people were collecting the hail that had piled up on top of cars in order to make snowballs and mini snowmen. It was the first snow day at my university in 54 years.

You should not be surprised (from this point forward) to see a picture of my beautiful cat, Caper.  I don't really know what breed she is, but I don't really care.  I've had her since she was 4 weeks old.  That's a little too early to leave mom, but when my sister visited the house of her owner, she found half of Caper's siblings wandering around in the street.  Needless to say, Julie brought Caper and her sister Feil home.  I dropper fed her every few hours, and she was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand.  It's probably a little absurd, but it definitely feels as if she is my child sometimes :P

Recently I have been on a bit of a Pride & Prejudice kick.  I love that book, and the movies are pretty darn good too.  Of course, I have been spoiled by the BBC Miniseries (Colin Firth *sigh*), and no other version is nearly as good.  Of course, each has its merits.  Keira Knightley did a very good version of Elizabeth, but I don't like that they cut out Mr and Mrs Hurst.  It made Caroline seem a little lonely.  I won't even get started on the inaccuracies of the 1940 version with Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier (also *sigh*).  However, it was very fun, funny, and enjoyable as a movie. Plus, it doesn't get much better than Laurence Olivier as Mr. Darcy....

As for crocheting, I am currently working on a pattern for an Elsa (Frozen) blanket, and the pattern is so large that it takes up almost an entire wall of my bedroom.

I got the Disney Infinity Sidekicks pack, and I have to say that Mrs. Incredible isn't nearly as cool as her daughter.  She has this cool combo where she can punch long distances and swing her arms around to hit multiple characters, but one of Violet's coolest abilities is her forcefield.

I was able to go to the gym for the first time in forever, and it felt pretty good :)

That reminds me... laundry :(
